Damion Lambert, 24, faces several charges after he ran from deputies during a routine traffic stop on Wednesday, June 22, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies attempted to pull over Lambert around 10 a.m. at a McDonald's in north Stafford. But instead of stopping, Lambert circled the building twice before throwing a bag out the window and taking off along Staffordboro Boulevard, the Sheriff's Office said.
That bag burst open when it hit the pavement, and out spilled a handgun, cash, and a large plastic baggie, deputies said.
After a short chase that reached 70 miles per hour, Lambert ditched his Kia and ran into a neighborhood on Westminster Lane. K-9 officers tracked him to his townhome in thee 300 block of Wimbledon Court, the Sheriff's Office said. A SWAT team later arrested him inside.
Deputies later realized that Lambert left evidence and drugs at each part of the chase.
The bag that Lambert tossed from his car contained a loaded handgun and 1,000 fentanyl pills, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies found 10 pounds of marijuana and more pills in the Kia. In a trashcan outside the townhome, investigators found several guns, including one that had been illegally modified to be fully automatic, deputies said. They also found 20 fully loaded weapon magazines, four large bottles of codeine used to make Purple Drank, and $20,000 in case.
Officials charged him with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm with drugs, reckless handling of a firearm, eluding arrest, no driver’s license, and having illegal window tint, the Sheriff's Office said. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, according to deputies.
